Tim Amsden, a retired Midwestern attorney who moved to a surprisingly
diverse and culturally dynamic rural region of west-central New Mexico,
has written an entertaining and insightful set of vignettes
about his 20 years of residency near Ramah, New Mexico.
The native plants and animals of the Colorado Plateau,
signs of ancient and historic human occupation, and
the contemporary inhabitants who live along New Mexico
Highway 53 from El Malpais National Monument to Zuni
Pueblo, are the subjects of his first-person tales.
