Plein Air Painting Outing

In preparation for an Artists’ Quarter group exhibition to complement the exhibit Seeing What’s There: Life and Land along Historic 53 in the 4th quarter of 2025, EMAAC is offering two free sessions led by Michael Chesley Johnson.

Still Life Session: Objects reminiscent of the families who lived in the El Morro area (1920s-50s) or bits and pieces left behind.

Plein Air Outing to Frank Jones Ranch

Sunday, September 21
Meet at 12 at the Old School Gallery to carpool.  We will work until 3 or 4. Bring what you will need to be comfortable while spending an afternoon creating art in the outdoors. Water, food, hat, sunblock, camera, art supplies, camp chair, etc.

If you are an EMAAC artist who cannot participate in either workshop, but make artwork that relates to this theme, feel free to enter it into this exhibit. Bear in mind when deciding on the size of your pieces that we have only the stage and corners by the bathroom and the piano for our exhibit this quarter.

The show will be hung on October 16th. We are hoping this will give everyone enough time to finish a piece or two for the show.
